India skipper Virat Kohli is on a record-breaking spree as he notched yet another century in the third ODI against Australia at JSCA International Stadium Complex, Ranchi on Friday (March 8).
Kohli’s 123-run knock was his 41st ODI century and he is now 9 tons away from overtaking Sachin Tendulkar’s world record tally of 49 ODI hundreds.
Although Virat’s lone battle couldn’t secure the victory for India, his herculean effort has once again sparked the debate over who is better batsman between him and Tendulkar.
Sharing his two cents on this topic, former Australia spinner Shane Warne on Saturday (March 9) added another legendary name in the list and he is none other than the West Indian batting great Brian Lara.
As per Warne, Sir Vivian Richards was the best batsman after Sir Don Bradman but the spin king is yet to come to a conclusion on who is the best batsman in modern times.
“I just got asked if I thought @imVkohli is better than @BrianLara or @sachin_rt. Let me think about that and come back to you I said. @ivivianrichards to me was the best batsman after Bradman, but in modern times mmmmm. Tough one ! Thoughts followers whilst I contemplate ?,” Warne tweeted.
Riding on Adam Zampa, Pat Cummins and Jhye Richardson’s three-wicket haul, Australia defeated India by 32 runs in Ranchi to stay alive in the five-match ODI series.
After the match, Warne had praised the Indian skipper for his never give up attitude while he congratulated Aaron Finch and company for their first win in the series.
“I love watching @imVkohli bat & play cricket as he never ever gives up & always believes his team can win when he’s batting. Just a terrific attitude & one that warms my heart. Congrats to Oz on a wonderful win, some great signs with bat & ball ! Very happy for @AaronFinch5 too !” Warne had tweeted.
